The Central Building is located at the center of commercial activity in downtown Peoria. Situated at the intersection of Adams and Main Streets, the Central Building is directly across from the Peoria County Courthouse square and positioned diagonally from Caterpillar’s Downstate Headquarters and OSF Healthcare Headquarters.
The first three floors of the Central Building were completed in 1914. The additional seven floors were added in 1931. The building contains a total leasable area of over 68,000 square feet. The Central Building exterior features a prominent marble-surrounded main entrance on Adams Street, with three decorative cornices and blond brick exterior. The sidewalks are lighted with early 20th century style light fixtures.
The building consists of ten stories above street level. As you enter the building, you will be greeted by a beautiful, marble-lined lobby, with terrazzo floors, leading to two main elevators and a marble staircase to the second floor. Most of the office suites feature impressive views of the Peoria river front and the Illinois river valley. The parking deck has access to each floor, from the parking deck elevator/stairwell landings. The parking deck elevator/stairwell has a security camera per floor, as well.
